On my recent shopping trip to Killeen, I wanted to try a restaurant that was new to me, Tham Rab Thai. It is a family run business, and you almost feel like you’re a guest in their home. They take care of their customers, and want to make sure you enjoy being there. The food was excellent. I had roasted duck and noodle soup, and Nina had a cashew chicken dish. The menu is impressive, so it’s easy to find something delicious. Tham Rab is in the Big Lots shopping center.
My favorite local Asian Market, Oh Mart, has really improved the quality and quantity of what they offer. Some of the items I couldn’t live without were fresh shitake mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, hokkaido pumkin / squash, and rice noodles. Oh Mart (formerly OMart) is also in the Big Lots shopping center. If you’ve never tried hokkaido pumpkin, it has orange, very sweet meat, and much better than acorn squash.
I’m always looking for different greenhouses and nurseries, and I’m not sure why I never stumbled onto this place before now. It’s a pretty big place on Stan Schlueter near Ft. Hood Street, Hidden Falls Nursery. They should start getting a lot of plants in a couple weeks, unless the weather is going to be particularly cold. So it looks like I’ll have to plan another trip. And, the new huge HEB in Copperas Cove, near WalMart, will be open by then, so there’s another excuse for me to go.
