We took a little shopping trip to Round Rock and Georgetown (TX), and ended up having a really late lunch at the Monument Cafe. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to get there, but what a great place to eat. It’s home cooking at it’s best. They served us scrumptious biscuits, right after we sat down (and I don’t usually like biscuits). Don had a chicken fried steak. I decided on the fried chicken breast, after considering an omelet, because they serve breakfast all day. On the menu, there was no mention of gravy on the fried chicken, so I was a little surprised when I got my plate. Most people love gravy, but I never have. They did offer to take it back, but we were having a 3:30 lunch – I was starved. So, I asked for a bunch of napkins, and right after this picture was taken, I scraped and wiped, and got my crispy chicken back!
The restaurant occupies, pretty much, a whole city block. It has a great market, and out back, a huge garden. There is a smaller garden by the market entrance, and you can walk through it.
