Asian Lettuce Wraps are an easy, and scrumptious summer meal. Because they’re so light and versatile, they’re a go-to for us. The meat can be ground beef, chicken, turkey, deer, or meat substitute. It can be fresh or frozen.
Asian Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients
- 1-2 TBSP olive oil (more for lean meat)
- 1 lb ground deer (chicken, turkey, or beef)
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1/2 tsp granulated garlic
- 1 TBSP hoisin sauce
- 2 TBSP soy sauce
- 1 TBSP rice wine vinegar
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- Salt
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Iceberg, butter lettuce, Bibb lettuce, Boston lettuce
- Cilantro leaves (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium high heat. Add ground meat, ginger, and garlic. Cook until browned, making sure to crumble the meat as it cooks.
- Stir in the next 6 ingredients.
- Remove from heat. Stir in onion.
- Serve meat mixture warm or room temperature in lettuce cups, topped with cilantro leaves. Eat like tacos!
- Other additions: sriracha; 1 (8-ounce) can whole water chestnuts, drained and diced; finely grated carrots, added when browning meat
- Other serving ideas: mix a tablespoon of oyster sauce into the meat and serve on rice noodles; mix a tablespoon of oyster sauce and cooked broccoli florets into meat, and serve on rice
