The West Austin Studio Tour was this past weekend, and will be the weekend of May 17th. Austin artists open their studios, and some hosted artists from out of state, for the tour. It was a great chance to meet the artists, see their studios, and purchase art. We started at Petrified Design, my favorite. I just love their furniture, and the smaller accessories that they had available, like desk lamps, iPad holders, and planters.
For lunch we went to Takoba. Since we were already hot, we sat outside for brunch. I had the De Chorizo Torta (sandwich) with a warm cactus salad. They make their own chorizo, which made the whole thing even more delicious.
After lunch we finally made it to East Austin Succulents , inside Tillery Street Plant Company. If you love succulents, you have to go to this nursery. We’ve tried two times before, and it’s been closed, but summer hours seem to be all the time. It’s well worth the time and effort to get there. They have every imaginable agave, aloe, ice plant, cactus, and xeriscape plant you can think of!
