Last week I had a dental appointment in Austin, and decided to make an overnight trip of it. I managed to go to three restaurants, while I was there. Actually, it was 4, but we won’t count Kerbey Lane for breakfast, because it’s a regular for me.
Nina and I made it to Dock and Roll for lunch the first day. We went to the location on Capital of Texas Hwy. It’s in a great little area for food trucks, and they serve lobster rolls fixed 9 different ways. They have some amazing other sandwiches, but we were there for the lobster, and it was scrumptious (and partially eaten in the picture!).

After my appointment, we decided happy hour would be great at one of the oldest Tex-Mex places, El Patio. The chips were outstanding – great thin tortilla wedges, fried perfectly. Then we had nachos, just because we could!
Unbelievable as it seems, it was on to Foreign and Domestic for dinner. This is a great restaurant, and everything is homemade. Gnocchi Alla Romana and Fried Chicken Biscuit were the picks for the evening. There was a little Boston Bib wedge salad on top of the gnocchi and veggies. The gnocchi was not what I expected, but this dish was still very delicious. They weren’t the typical potato dumpling I’m used to, and I’m a bit of a gnocchi snob, so I’ll be ordering something else the next time, because there will be a next time.

It’s hard to believe that I woke up hungry the next day. So, it was Kerbey Lane for breakfast.
