Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

Walmart will begin carrying a lot more organic foods (they already carry some), since partnering with Wild Oats.  They will be more competitively priced,…

It’s another girls night get-together, and it’s time for some new spring recipes.  I’ve got to use some of the never ending asparagus, and I’m in the mood for pasta salad.  I just haven’t decided if the asparagus will make it into the pasta salad, or stand alone. Greenhouse April 2014

Posted on April 12, 2014 by Lanie Fioretti

We’re so amazed at the production from the greenhouse, I just have to share another picture.  On the left are lettuce and Asian mustard greens, on the right are Swiss chard, broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, spinach, and kale.  It’s so nice to be able to pick and cook whatever we feel like eating.  I added the…
