Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

Breakfast Sandwich (Gluten Free) (Cooking for One)

Posted on January 27, 2014 by Lanie Fioretti

This recipe is a bit fussier than I usually post, but worth it, as an occasional treat, and definitely when you want a good substitute for bread.  I used flattened fried plantains instead of the bread.  Frying is the other thing I don’t typically do, but honestly I ended up with almost as much grapeseed…

Greenhouse Update

Posted on January 26, 2014January 26, 2014 by Lanie Fioretti

And now for the continuing saga of the greenhouse.  I was all excited when I did the last post, and the picture of it was pretty impressive, but right after that, we had 30 mph winds.  You can see where I’m going with this!  I came home from the store, and it looked like a…
