Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

May at Gorman Falls

Posted on May 23, 2013August 11, 2016 by Lanie Fioretti

This is a hike that’s better done in March or April, because of the heat.  Unfortunately, until now, there wasn’t enough water coming over the falls to make it worth the hike.  We got a really early start, since the temperature was headed to 90°.  To our surprise, it was 59° that morning!  It couldn’t…

Roasted Turkey II

Posted on May 21, 2013 by Lanie Fioretti

This is the perfect roasted turkey, du jour!  It’s always a continuing story with me, just trying to find the best way to cook something, with the least amount of effort.  So, this time I cut the breast off the bird (left side of picture) and put it beside the leg, thigh, wing, back section….
