Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

Minted Zucchini

Posted on May 25, 2013 by Lanie Fioretti

My neighbor has some great vegetables coming in, and he gave me zucchini and potatoes.  I decided to give the zucchini some spring zest.  My editor didn’t like the picture of the finished dish, so there you have it.  It did taste delicious, however. Roasted Turkey II

Posted on May 21, 2013 by Lanie Fioretti

This is the perfect roasted turkey, du jour!  It’s always a continuing story with me, just trying to find the best way to cook something, with the least amount of effort.  So, this time I cut the breast off the bird (left side of picture) and put it beside the leg, thigh, wing, back section….

Blackberries, Pork, and Trade Days

Posted on May 20, 2013May 20, 2013 by Lanie Fioretti

And the place where those 3 things collide is Calvert, TX.  It was the Saturday outing.  Epps Farm was the first stop, after I got lost.  You know I’ve made the trip a few times before, so there’s no explaining my little detour.  This past Sat. was the first day for picking blackberries.  They’ve got…
