Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

Mini Sour Cream Biscuits

Posted on December 15, 2012 by Lanie Fioretti

In my menus for the lodge, I listed mini sour cream muffins with a couple menus.  I’ve had the recipe for years, and I don’t really even know where it came from, but they are so simple and scrumptious.  It’s a great holiday treat.  Because they’re so rich, it’s better to keep them to bite…

Cooking at Lodge – Day Nine

Posted on December 14, 2012 by Lanie Fioretti

Breakfast was pretty basic this morning – sausage patties, bacon, smashed potatoes, biscuits and an egg and cheese frittata.  I was about halfway through making everything, when the hunting guide told me a couple of the people had left for home earlier this morning.  So, there was a lot of leftover breakfast food.  Then I…
