Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

BBQ Quesadilla

Posted on April 2, 2012April 2, 2012 by Lanie Fioretti

The world of quesadillas meets BBQ. I haven’t seen much I won’t put in a quesadilla. This week we have a lot of BBQ from the fire department dinner.  I used to make quesadillas using two tortillas, but I’ve found it’s much easier to use one tortilla and fill half, then fold it.  It’s like…

Coffee Drinks

Posted on April 1, 2012August 22, 2016 by Lanie Fioretti

As it’s getting hotter by the day, I start thinking about coffee drinks (non-alcoholic for now!).  I had a roommate that used to stir instant coffee into a glass of milk, ice it, and drink it.  I thought it sounded horrible.  I loved coffee, but I loved it hot.  Living in Texas changes your palate,…
