Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

I’ll share pictures and recipes in the next couple days when I have the ability to download the camera. The weather is so gorgeous, and the food……well more about that later….

Root Vegetables

I just couldn’t resist showing you this.  It’s a 4 lb turnip from my neighbors garden.  I’ve still got a few normal turnips to cook, but it’s the end of their season. In my garden where I planted all the root vegetables, I’ve noticed most of the baby tops have been nibbled off.   I planted…

Pastry Bundles for Leftovers

Posted on March 22, 2012March 22, 2012 by Lanie Fioretti

I love the challenge of leftovers, when you have little bits of things left or when you just can’t stand having one more serving of something you made. This week I had some sloppy joe meat and some potato casserole. I mixed a meat, potato, Parmesan, and a little dill pickle juice to balance the…
