Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

White Bean, Chile, and Artichoke Dip

Posted on January 27, 2012July 16, 2016 by Lanie Fioretti

I skipped right over cooking with what’s on special this…

These are so delicious, you won’t believe it’s not beef.  It’s great that it’s so much healthier for you than chicken, pork, or beef.  I can’t wait to use some of the other cuts we have.  Unfortunately, I have several bags of mystery meat, so it will be interesting when I defrost it! PrintDeer Meat…

Koreana Restaurant in Killeen

Posted on January 23, 2012January 31, 2012 by Lanie Fioretti

What a great place for Asian food.  We stopped for lunch, and I believe it’s our new “go to” Asian food place.  It’s Korean and Japanese food.  Don ordered the Korean BBQ pork and it was excellent.  I had squid and it was just OK.  I know, you’re saying how could that possibly be good? …

Ham and Salami Sliders

Posted on January 23, 2012July 25, 2016 by Lanie Fioretti

Now for a little more Super Bowl manly food!  I have had no success in getting ham or salami out of Don’s diet, so might as well put both of them in one creation, ham and salami sliders.  Considering I was just cleaning out the fridge, it was unbelievably good, and I’m not even a…
