Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

Fried Chicken (Gluten Free)

Posted on November 29, 2014 by Lanie Fioretti

I decided fried chicken was a great way to initiate my new electric frying pan.  It’s hard to say enough good things about this pan.  It cooks very evenly, no sticking (heated well, with oil in it), and a clear glass lid. My grandmother used to fry everything with cornmeal and garlic, and it’s a…

World Cup Cafe – Waco

Posted on November 27, 2014 by Lanie Fioretti

Hope Thanksgiving was good for you.  The day before Thanksgiving was a great day to shop everywhere (and have lunch out), except the grocery store.  I’m always rethinking our meal and celebrations.  Don and I had steak this year!  Then, it’s out of town to spend time with friends. Izzy and I had lunch at World…
