And for our second Gatlinburger experience, we went to Boudicca’s Celtic Pub. We are particularly drawn to Irish type pubs. Even though this one was extremely hard to find, it was well worth the effort. In this small two-story slice of a shopping cul-de-sac in downtown Gatlinburg, we had the best burger. The Banger Burger was two angus patties, Irish cheddar, balsamic onion jam, topped with sliced sausage (bangers), mashed potatoes, and gravy made with Kerrygold butter. Here’s our spoiler alert – hands down our clear favorite. For more info, on social media, go to #GatlinBURGER
I had something more of a meal. It was the special that day, and really delicious. I just couldn’t face another burger or sandwich meal, so I had sirloin, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. Of course the broccoli was covered with Guinness cheese sauce, and the gravy was the same as on the burger. I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m not a gravy eater. I like sauces, and I make gravy for others who like it. While I did taste the gravy, and it was very good, I spooned it all out. Unbelievable, I know. I don’t eat gravy on turkey, chicken fried steak, or biscuits!
