There’s an interesting article, this month, from Natural Grocer, on the benefits from taking CoQ10. In fact, there are a lot more benefits from taking it, than I realized. Physicians have seen improvement in maladies, including heart diseases, energy levels, and migraines. Naturally occurring CoQ10 is found in organ meats, like liver and heart. When was the last time you had a serving?! As we age it is much more difficult for the body to convert CoQ10 into the active form, ubiquinol. Information on when to take which form, and the levels that are most effective are also in the article, click here. Ubiquinol is one of the few things I’ve added to my regime, to help with blood pressure, and I’ve gotten good results. It is a fairly pricey supplement, but recently, I found it at Costco.
In other news, there is a law firm in Chicago leading the movement to make the food industry accountable for obesity related health care costs. They have contacted state attorneys general in 16 states, so far, with a strategy similar to what was used to bring down the tobacco industry in the 1990s. If it can be proven that the food industry is trying to create “food addictions,” the fight will escalate to a whole different level. For the entire article, click here.
