Coleslaw
I have been fortunate to cook for Dot since March 2010. This is one of her timeless and oh so wonderful recipes.
Ingredients
- • 1 cup sugar
- • 1/2 cup vinegar
- • 1/2 cup oil
- • 1 TBSP kosher salt
- • 1 tsp mustard seed
- • 1 tsp celery seed
- • Dill seed, little-if desired
- • 1 head cabbage, grated
- • Onion (or use a little onion powder)
- • Green or red pepper
- • Carrot
Instructions
- Mix first 4 ingredients in a small pan and simmer until sugar dissolves. Add mustard, celery, and dill seed. While hot, pour over bowl of grated cabbage and/or other slaw vegetables you've prepared.
- I have made this with corn and other veges and it's always good. As it sits it marinates wonderfully.
We are having a Halloween get-together tonight and I’m making pulled pork and coleslaw. I can’t make coleslaw without Dot’s dressing! I really should print this recipe and put it in my recipe book.
Thanks Lanie!
