I’ve had some good meals in Waco, recently. It’s hard to find restaurants, in this area, that have pretty high quality ingredients. Jason’s Deli is one of those places that I don’t pay much attention to, but when I looked at them on-line, I was surprised to see a fair number of organic and also gluten free selections. So, I decided to try a salad and soup. It will definitely be a “go to” lunch place for me. The selection of organic items include salad greens, carrots, and vegetable soup.
On Valentine’s Day, Nina and I went to Homestead Heritage to do a little shopping, and have lunch. I’ve never been there, when there have been that many people. We had a 20 minute wait, just enough time to buy a few things at the store! For lunch, Nina had the Durant Cheeseburger, and I had the Hamburger Quesadilla. Needless to say, it was delicious. If you’re not familiar, they make all their bread and tortillas, and the burgers are made with meat from their grass-fed cows. We couldn’t manage dessert, but I brought emergency chocolate for later.
After lunch, we wanted to check out the World Cup Cafe and Fair Trade Market, on 15th and Colcord. The market has some great textiles, jewelry, baskets, totes, and purses. And the cafe has a pretty good menu. They serve breakfast and lunch, and we’ll have to try it on another day.
