I have been practicing a gluten free diet now for nearly two years and even though I am not an expert on the diet I have found a few products that are good.
Tinkyada makes pasta products from brown rice and the taste and texture is the same as regular pasta and makes a great substitute. You probably could pass it off to your whole family and they wouldn’t know is was gluten free.
Pamela’s Products makes all kinds of gluten free mixes. The Baking and Pancake mix makes very good pancakes.
Anything made by Udi’s is good. I have had the bread, bagels, and buns. Of all the gluten free breads and bread mixes that I have tried, Udi’s are the best.
King Arthur flour has a general purpose flour mix that I use for anything that calls for small amounts of flour.
Babycakes in NYC is a fabulous gluten free bakery. I have one of their cookbooks, and below are links to some of the recipes. Xanthan gum, garbanzo flour, and the other flours and starches in the recipes help create structure and texture. They are available at HEB Woodway or Wooded Acres (Bob’s Red Mill), Natural Grocers, and probably Drug Emporium. Additionally, chickpea or garbanzo flour should be at Om in Temple.
