Greenhouse Surprises January 2015

Posted on February 5, 2015August 4, 2016 by Lanie Fioretti

Cauliflower and Broccoli

I haven’t been very attentive to the greenhouse this winter, other than throwing a few seeds in there, a number of weeks ago.  The ants are still determined to enjoy the winter in a few pots I have lining the floor.

This week I took some kitchen compost and leaves out to start layering the greenhouse floor, and noticed a big head of cauliflower and a lot of small shoots of broccoli.  It was a pleasant surprise, especially since I didn’t plant either this year.  Both have lasted since I planted them last winter.  And we finally have blooms on the sugar peas, so they’ll be a nice addition to our table.

I have a basket of seeds on the back table that I need to get serious about planting next week.
