Our family always had a tomato salad or a lettuce salad sitting in the middle of the table at supper time, and we all ate out of the same bowl. You can certainly make additions to this tomato salad, but it’s good just like it is. It’s a must to have good bread to soak up the juice.
Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic, cut in half
- 6-8 tomatoes, cut into wedges
- 1 medium yellow onion, cut into half-moon slices
- 1-2 cloves garlic, cut in half and place a toothpick through each piece
- 1-2 Tablespoons dried oregano
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4-1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Rub the inside of a large glass bowl with the cut side of the garlic.
- Place tomatoes, onion, garlic with toothpicks, oregano, and salt and pepper in the bowl.
- Drizzle on the olive oil.
- Toss everything together and let marinate in fridge for 1-2 hours before serving, turning occasionally.
- Serve with fresh bread.
- Note: *the toothpicks help you find and remove the garlic
