Eating at Jack Allen’s Kitchen is a great way to start the new year. It was our lunch stop, on another day trip to the Round Rock area. Apparently, I can’t drive by Jack Allen’s without stopping. I probably need to start a 12-step program, but really, I don’t want to quit!
Our picks of the day were the Killer Cheese Burger, the Fat Jack Burger, Wedgies Salad, and Layered Chunky Queso. The burgers are always awesome, and you have a choice of regular or sweet potato fries (or a combo). I’ve had the wedge salad before, so I knew it was good, but huge, like a half a head of lettuce. The queso was new for me, and really delicious. It had green chile pork in it, and topped with guacamole. It’s an appetizer, and if you happen to be at Jack Allen’s for happy hour, all the apps are half price.
