Since it’s gotten slightly cooler, the look of fall is spectacular at our house. I may have jumped the gun a little, planting greens outside. So far, they seem to be growing well. Because the tomato plants are producing well, I have to wait to plant those beds with winter crops. It’s still too hot to plant the greenhouse, though. The mandarin clementine tree has done fabulously this year, we can’t wait to have our first bite. The Meyer Lemon did well also, but not like the mandarin.
This is the first year that I planted a small area that looks like a sandbox with root veggies. I surrounded the whole thing with wire to keep the deer out. All the seeds are up and doing well. Just when I thought I may have discovered the perfect place for future root vegetable plantings, then I caught our dachshund all stretched out, enjoying a nap.
