Lula Jane’s is a great little cafe on Elm Street in Waco. I’m not sure why I didn’t know about it before. It’s really a bakery, but she does serve one lunch item daily, whatever is fresh and available. So you might want to call first to see what’s cooking. If you want bakery items, they are delicious, and varied. I’m more concerned about the food! The day I went, I had a great bowl of Three Cheese Polenta with Roasted Root Vegetables. And I wanted to try the hummus, so I got an order for the table. It wasn’t the usual hummus, but had more of a southwest flair, and was served with tortilla chips. I have to say everything was fresh, and delicious. In the lot next to the cafe, Lula Jane grows her veggies and herbs. It’s Austin flair, in the heart of Waco.
