I managed to over buy onions for the lodge, so we made an awesome Onion Casserole. Absolutely everyone was crazy about it. It’s definitely one of my go to sides now. Easy and delicious, this is a must have for your meal rotation.
Onion Casserole
Ingredients
- 3 large onions, sliced into 1/4-in.-thick slices and separated into rings
- 1 tsp Tony Chachere’s
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup salted butter
- 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese, or cheddar
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or havarti
- 1/2 cup Parmesan
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350.
- Place onions in a large bowl.
- Mix all spices and herbs in a small bowl. Sprinkle over onions and toss to coat them evenly.
- Place onions in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- Dot with butter.
- Sprinkle with Mexican blend cheese and mozzarella. Top with Parmesan.
- Bake until onions are tender, and the top is bubbly and golden brown around the edges, about 30-35 minutes.
