Just imagine the perfect marriage of shortbread and pralines. It’s hard to explain how good Pecan Squares are. Not only are they incredibly delicious, but they are simple and quick to make. And if that isn’t convincing enough, you use pantry items and 1 bowl.

Pecan Squares
Ingredients
- 4 (generous) cups pecans
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 8 TBSP melted butter
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup, sorghum syrup, or Steen's syrup
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 7 TBSP melt butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp salt
- (Toasted pecans)

Instructions
- Heat oven to 350.
- Spread pecans on baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Leave oven lit to bake the squares.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Mix in butter. It should be a crumbly consistency.
- Line the bottom and sides of a 9x13 baking pan with parchment.
- Pat dough evenly into bottom.
- Save yourself some work, and use the same bowl you used for the crust.
- Mix together syrup,brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and salt. Then stir in toasted pecans.
- Spread evenly over crust.
- Bake on lowest rack of oven for about 25 minutes.
- While still warm, sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Cool about 1 hour before cutting into squares.
