Pork Chops with Balsamic Sauce

This is a great main dish for a special occasion, it’s simple and elegant.  I used this in one of the Valentine’s menus for cooking classes I did for Whole Foods.

Pork Chops with Balsamic Sauce

Ingredients

  • 16 oz balsamic vinegar
  • 1 peeled shallot
  • 2-3 sage leaves or a sprig of rosemary
  • 4 thick cut pork chops
  • Granulated garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • Baby spinach leaves

Instructions

  1. Place balsamic, shallot, and sage in a saucepan on medium heat, and reduce by half. The balsamic should be thick and kind of syrupy.
  2. Let pork chops sit at room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking.
  3. Sprinkle chops with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Grill until done to your liking.
  5. To serve, place chop on a bed of baby spinach and drizzle with balsamic.
