We start our day trip on Saturday at the Texas Wine and Art Fest in Salado. There were 17 Texas wineries represented, and you could purchase tickets for tastings. The Salado Winery hosts this event. In addition to tasting some fabulous wines, we bought some amazing sweet and spicy pickle chips from In A Pickle Foods.
There were a lot of artists, and the one that really got our attention was Blue Bottle Studio. They had gorgeous pieces for the garden.
We were too close to Jack Allen’s Kitchen to pass up the opportunity to have lunch there. I shouldn’t even talk about what I had, because it was chicken-fried (chicken). But in my defense, at least the bird started out good – it was pastured chicken. If you end up going there, you might as well go the little extra distance to shop at Sprouts on 35 and 620. I always find lots of ways to damage my food budget there (in a good way)!
