Snake Control

Posted on June 26, 2016October 4, 2020 by Lanie Fioretti

Never underestimate the power of cheap wildlife netting.  It’s the same type of netting we use on tomatoes.  After covering all the plants that the deer find irresistible, we noticed that our resident rat snakes get tangled in it, and eventually die.  Most of the year I don’t mind rat snakes living here, because they help with rodent control.  But when the purple martins are here, they crawl up the birdhouse poles and eat the martins – not OK.  Don took a few pictures of our last catch, and how we use the net around the birdhouse poles.
