We still have lots of pecans from last season, but sometimes we want more nut choices. I found some great walnuts. And while I love to cook with them, Spiced Walnuts make great gifts, or party snacks. So, I revised a recipe to make an irresistible way to enjoy them. It’s simple, fast, and delicious.
Spiced Walnuts
Ingredients
- 4 cups walnuts
- 3 TBSP unsalted butter
- 4 tsp Moroccan spice blend (I used Dulcet Moroccan spice rub)
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper (more, if you like more spice)
- 2 tsp kosher salt (less if your spice blend has salt)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 TBSP water
Instructions
- Heat oven to 375.
- Place walnuts on a parchment lined baking sheet. Toast for 5 minutes.
- Meantime, on medium heat in a small saucepan, stir together the rest of the ingredients. Continue stirring until sugar melts, and mixture is foamy on top.
- Place toasted walnuts in a large bowl, and toss with butter mixture until well coated.
- Spread in a single layer, back on the parchment lined pan.
- Bake for 5 minutes. Toss and bake for an additional 5 min.
- Remove, cool completely. While cooling, separate any nuts that are sticking together.
