Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

Have a Healthy New Year 2014

Hard Boiled Eggs

Posted on December 25, 2013 by Lanie Fioretti

Most of the grocery stores haven’t published their ads yet, so let’s talk about eggs! Sometimes, peeling hard boiled eggs makes me crazy.  It takes too much time, and they are usually ugly, when I get done with them, with half the white torn apart.  I’ve tried all the tricks – lots of salt in…

Christmas 2013

Posted on December 24, 2013 by Lanie Fioretti

While I did finally put out a couple decorations, mostly there’s a little cheery color in the yard. It’s hard to believe it’s the holiday season, and the end of the year.  I have no expectations for 2014 (yet), but it’s sure to bring new and interesting things into our lives.  After all, I could…
