Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

After reading my weekly The City Cook™ Newsletter, I did a little reality check, and thought it might be a good time to add a few notes about being a home cook everyday. Since I love all things having to do with food, sometimes I forget not everyone is like that.  Even if I’m just…

Southwest Pork Loin (Slow Cooker)

Posted on September 26, 2011July 24, 2016 by Lanie Fioretti

In our house, we love all things pork.  Luckily, pork is often on special at the grocery store.  Southwest Pork Loin is all the Tex-Mex flavors that are our favorites.  Loin, butt, shoulder, and country rib cuts all work in this recipe. Just a reminder that when posts are no longer on the home page,…
