Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

Asparagus Potato Salad

Posted on April 2, 2015 by Lanie Fioretti

Our bumper crop of asparagus is beginning, so I need to do at least one new recipe.  I cooked the asparagus like I do roasted potatoes, only without the rosemary.  This is a delicious way to get your veggies in one side dish. Farro and Feta Salad

Posted on March 22, 2015 by Lanie Fioretti

Farro is a whole grain, and great for variety in starch side dishes.  I used the “emmer” wheat species of farro, because that’s what I had in the pantry.  You could use any whole grain (like wheatberries) to make this salad, but it’s delicious with farro. French Fries with Sriracha Ranch

Posted on March 19, 2015 by Lanie Fioretti

This is a very bad thing for me to start.  I should already be enrolled in a 12-step program for my french fry habit.  After I went to the food truck in Waco, I realized how easy it is to make sriracha ranch.  The recipe goes like this – get a small bowl of high…
