Author: Lanie Fioretti

My name is Lanie Fioretti and although I am not a classically trained chef or a degreed nutritionist, I have been studying food and nutrition voraciously since the early seventies. After working in public health and private practice for 22 years, I retired my dental hygiene license. I have taught cooking classes at Whole Foods and Central Market, done product development for a bakery in east Texas, catered, and been a personal chef. I usually think of myself as an improvisational cook!

I have to talk about enchiladas again, because they are just so good, and there are leftovers in most homes, after a big holiday meal.  Enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos,…

Holiday Appetizers

Posted on December 20, 2014 by Lanie Fioretti

This year, I’ve decided to make it less stressful, and get over having to make appetizers from scratch.  The simplest things can be spectacular looking and delicious.  Choose great products , and a gorgeous serving platter/dish, and voilà, you’re golden. We have really good lettuce in the greenhouse, so I used it, but if I…

Peanut Butter Balls, No Bake

Posted on December 18, 2014December 18, 2014 by Lanie Fioretti

I was researching no bake peanut butter balls for my niece, and I ran across a good looking recipe in a 1963 cookbook from the Oklahoma Peanut Council.  I’ve made some changes and additions, and they turned out fabulously.  They’re a great holiday treat. PrintPeanut Butter Balls, No Bake Total Time: 35 minutes Yield: About…
